
Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University Student Council Showcases ‘Smart No Smoking’ Initiative, Empowering Youth to Build a Smoke-Free Society “Be Cool Without Smoking” 2025
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, through the Student Council, under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Somsak Klaisang, Vice President for Student Affairs, assigned Mr. Worapot Chuchuay, President of the Student Council and a second-year Political Science student, along with the Student Council committee members, to participate in the “Smart, Not Smoke” project. The event was held at Classroom 810AB, 8th Floor, Medical and Nursing Integrated Learning Building, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University.
The initiative, organized by Ramathibodi Student Union in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, aimed to raise awareness of the harmful effects of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and second-hand smoke, while encouraging Thai youth to develop practical strategies to reduce smoking. It also promoted the creation of a youth network to sustainably tackle smoking-related issues.
The activities included:
- A seminar titled “Thai Youth and E-cigarettes”
- A Project-Based Learning Workshop under the theme “Thai Youth vs. the E-cigarette Villain”
- Presentation of project proposals by youth representatives from various institutions
This participation marked an important step for Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University Student Council in mobilizing student power to create a smoke-free society, develop policies, and promote health and quality of life for the next generation.
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, addressing multiple aspects of health and well-being.
- Goal 4: Quality Education – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, encompassing access to quality education for boys and girls at all levels.
