
SSRU Joins Capacity-Building Workshop for Mental Health Counselors in Higher Education
On July 7–8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), through the Office of Student Development, assigned Mr. Attasit Nikornwat from the Discipline and Student Development Division, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Somsak Klai-Sang, Vice President for Student Affairs, to participate in a capacity-building workshop on student counseling and mental health promotion for higher education institutions in Bangkok.
The workshop, titled "Student Counseling in the University Context", was held at the Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry, Khlong San District, Bangkok. It aimed to enhance knowledge and counseling skills for systematic mental health care for students, enabling higher education personnel to apply these skills effectively while fostering sustainable mental health promotion networks within institutions.
Dr. Pongsakorn Lengdee, Director of Mental Health Center 13, presided over the meeting, which saw participation from various higher education institutions across Bangkok. The program provided university personnel responsible for student welfare with enhanced knowledge, understanding, and counseling techniques to help students maintain good mental health and improve their quality of life.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages – covering various aspects of health and well-being.
- Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all – supporting equal access to quality education for both male and female students at all levels.
