Makha Bucha Day was originally called Makha Punnamee, referring to the full moon day in the month of Makha, while Makha Bucha means worshiping on the full moon of the Makha month, which is the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 3rd month. It was the day that 1250 monks came together without an appointment. Additionnally, there are 4 miracles at the same time called Chaturongsannibat Meeting together with the 4th body and today, the Lord Buddha made the Wisut Ubosot preaching the Patimokkha sermon which we consider is the heart of Buddhism

"Maka" is the name of the 3rd month. Makha Bucha stands for the word "Makaburanami" meaning worshiping Buddha images on the full moon day of the 3rd month. Therefore, Makha Bucha falls on the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 3rd month. But if there is a leap month in any year that is, there are two eight months Makha Bucha Day will be postponed to the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 4th lunar month, an important day on buddhist day
