Office syndrome is a common condition among working-age people whose jobs require sitting in front of a computer or performing repetitive tasks in the same posture for long periods, often several hours a day. It can also occur when maintaining improper posture for extended periods while sitting, standing, walking, or working, such as slouching, hunching the shoulders, raising the shoulders, or excessively bending the neck.

These behaviors may cause pain, stiffness, numbness, or discomfort in various parts of the body and can lead to musculoskeletal disorders, such as:

  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Nerve tension
  • Tennis elbow
  • Trigger finger
  • Tendinitis
  • Postural back pain
  • Back dysfunction

Ways to prevent Office Syndrome:

  1. Avoid sitting in the same position for too long.
  2. Get up and move around during the day; change posture regularly.
  3. Arrange your workstation according to ergonomic principles.
  4. Improve the work environment with proper lighting and ventilation.
  5. Stretch your muscles periodically during work.
  6. Take breaks and relax during working hours.
  7. Adjust daily habits by sitting upright and avoiding prolonged bending or tilting of the neck.
  8. Exercise regularly.
  9. Get enough rest and sleep.
